Marmox SoundBoard Soundproofing Boards

Marmox SoundBoard is an impact sound reducing insulating tile backer board that can be used to reduce impact sound heard in rooms below. SoundBoard will reduce the level of impact noise greater than the recommended minimum of 17dB. Not only does the board provide effective soundproofing for tiled floors, but it also has a waterproof layer, secure decoupling, thermal insulation and low compressibility.

SoundBoard is coated on one side with a sound attenuating layer of SBR rubber that isolates the tiled surface from the floor so that there is nothing for the sound waves to travel through. The rubber compound used is a natural material so there is no plasticiser migration ensuring the material neither shrinks, degrades or becomes brittle. Marmox SoundBoard measures 1200x600mm and is available in 8mm or 12mm thicknesses.

To install, fix the boards with the rubber coated side facing downwards using a thin bed of either flexible tile adhesive or Marmox Multibond. Multibond is a visco-elastic material and absorbs sound waves, offering slightly more sound reduction than the boards on their own. Ensure that you leave a gap of 4mm between the edge of the boards and the wall, which is then filled with Multibond to eliminate the possibility of flanking sound. After you have installed SoundBoard, tape over the joints and tile as normal.
