Flagstone-style flooring has been used all over the world for years. Traditionally made from stone such as travertine or limestone, the term flagstone is now commonly used to describe the patterns created using different sized tiles or paving stones. There are many different patterns that can be created depending on the number and size of your tiles so we have put together some diagrams showing you how to create our favourites.
Each pack has different sized tiles and these layouts will require several packs depending on the size of your room.

As we said, many flagstone floors are made of natural stone, and while it is beautiful, it does have a few downsides; firstly, it is expensive – as it is a natural product a lot of work goes into collecting the material and then turning it into a tile. If you want even sizing and rectified edges you will pay even more as the tiles will have to be cut several times. It also requires regular maintenance; as stone is porous it will need sealing once installed and will require re-sealing to protect from staining – how often depends on the type of stone and use, for example if it’s used in a wet or high traffic area. You may also need to invest in specialist cleaning products to protect the stone from damage.
Our range of flagstone tile packs are made from porcelain but have been designed to look just like natural stone. Porcelain has a number of benefits, particularly when used on floors. The material is non-porous so it has an extremely low absorption rate and is therefore very stain resistant and does not require sealing. It can be cleaned with a broom and mop and is extremely hard-wearing, perfect for busy areas like hallways and kitchens. While these natural stone effect products will have variation in pattern to mimic the look of stone, they will be more uniform in colour than natural stone which can sometimes vary hugely between the tiles.
