PREPARATION

• Ensure substrates are clean, dry, sound, flat, strong and rigid enough to support tiles, free from cracks, structural defects and contaminants that may prevent adhesion (e.g., dust, oil, grease, paint, varnish, wax polishes, sealers, loose materials and other surface contaminants).
• The temperature of the application environment must be stable and maintained between +5°C and +30°C.
• Make good any unsound areas and remove flaky or peeling layers before using Bostik Flexible Tanking Liquid.
• New sand and cement screed or plaster surfaces should be allowed at least 4 weeks to adequately dry out before Bostik Flexible Tanking Liquid is applied.
• Any floor surface inclines should run to a drain point to ensure that water flows off in the correct direction.
• Substrates which are highly absorbent such as gypsum based surfaces should be treated with Bostik Flexible Tanking System Primer.

APPLICATION

• Where Bostik Flexible Tanking System Primer has been applied, it must be allowed to fully dry (approximately 1 hour) before applying tanking liquid.
• Apply the Flexible Tanking Liquid by brush or roller, generously around all horizontal and vertical joints, cracks, corners and seams as well as at the joints surrounding pipe penetrations and gullies.
• Whilst the liquid is still wet, firmly press the Polyester Jointing Tape into all seams, surface joints and fittings and at the junction between different surface materials. It is important to smooth the Polyester Jointing Tape as you go.
• Apply a first coat of Bostik Flexible Tanking Liquid to the entire area. If necessary, cut the Polyester Matting to size and evenly press into the first coat, whilst it is still wet and allow to dry. Allow 1-2 hours for drying.
• Apply a second coat of the Bostik Flexible Tanking Liquid at 90 degrees to the first coat to the entire area, paying particular attention to the polyester tape.
• Allow 2+ hours for the system to dry, (depending on ambient temperature and humidity).

CLEANING

• Clean tools and equipment with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Remove surplus adhesive from surfaces whilst it is still wet. Dried and hardened adhesive can only be removed mechanically.
