Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive is a flexible standard setting tile adhesive, and acts a direct replacement to Kerakoll No Limits. H40 is a thixotropic tile adhesive with a gel-like consistency that performs outstandingly with all materials and substrates, making it the new go-to tile adhesive for all tiling applications - indoors and outdoors!
The new Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive is easy to apply and holds its shape superbly, easily supporting the weight of heavy tiles and making work on site easier. It can be mixed to a thixotropic and fluid consistency, guaranteeing total wetting of the back of tiles without compromising on bond strength. Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive is available in 20kg bags, in either standard white or grey.
Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive is suitable for tiling internally and externally, on both floors and walls. This tile adhesive can even be used to overlay old tiles. It is suitable for use in domestic, commercial and industrial areas, such as terraces and balconies, facades, swimming pools, fountains, spas and saunas. Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive is suitable for all types and formats of tiles and natural stone, such as: porcelain tiles and ceramic tiles, stoneware (including laminated), low thickness slabs, recomposed materials, mosaics, glass tiles, terracotta, thermal and acoustic insulation, and even large slabs up to 3000mm x 1500mm!
It can also be used with a wide range of substrates such as existing tiles, waterproofing products, heating systems, both cement-based screeds and asphalt screeds, concretes, plasterboard, fibro-cement boards and tile backer boards, gypsum and anhydrite, brickwork and blockwork, lime and cement-based plasters and renders, thermal insulation panelling systems, insulating panels, impact noise insulation sheets, timber, metal, and PVCs.
Features and Benefits of Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive
How to use Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive
How to prepare your substrates for tiling
The surface you want to tile onto must be level, cured, undamaged, compact, rigid, dry and free from any debonding agents or anything that might react with the adhesive. Kerakoll recommend that you dampen highly absorbent concrete substrates or apply a coat of Kerakoll Primer A Eco to ensure bond strength. Anhydrite substrates must have a residual humidity below or equal to 0,5 CM-%. Cement-based screeds must have a residual humidity below or equal to 2 CM-%. Substrates must comply with BS 5385 parts 1-5. Anchored substrates must comply with BS 8204 and anhydrite with underfloor heating must have a residual humidity below or equal to 0,3 CM-%.
Please note: Some substrates such as metal, timber, PVC, asphalt/bitumen, gypsum and anhydrite require pre-treating before the applying Kerakoll H40. You should prime these substrates with Kerakoll Keragrip Eco Primer.
Mixing:
You should always mix tile adhesive following the directions on the packet. Kerakoll H40 should be mixed with water: Grey ≈ 23% – 29% by weight, White ≈ 26% – 33% by weight.
Mixing water on-site: For lower thickness laying and full wettability: Grey ≈ 5.7 l/1 bag, White ≈ 6.6 l / 1 bag. On walls, for higher and lower thickness laying: Grey ≈ 4.5 l/1 bag, White ≈ 5.1 l / 1 bag.
As with any tile adhesive, the amount of water to be added to Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive when mixing is always an approximate guide. You may need to vary the amounts of water to obtain mixtures with consistency of variable thixotropy according to the application you need.
Application:
In order to guarantee adhesion it is necessary to apply a layer of Kerakoll H40 Gel Tile Adhesive to cover the entire back of the tiles and coating material. Large, rectangular sizes with sides larger than 60cm and low thickness sheets may require adhesive to be applied directly to the back of the material. Always do a small area first as a sample to make sure the adhesive has been transferred from your substrate to the back of the material.
